Officers from Phuket City Police were called to the shop, Koh Kaew Mobile, at about 9pm last night (May 18).
Shop owner ‘Ms Nattha’ (family name not reported) explained that a man entered the shop and asked to see the iPhone 13 on display.
Ms Nattha removed the phone from the display case and handed it to the man, who started inspecting it.
After a short while of admiring the phone, the man simply said, “I want it,” and ran out of the shop and jumped on a motorbike and sped off.
The man was wearing a grey T-shirt and shorts, Ms Nattha said. However, she could not remember any details of the motorbike, including the make and model.
Police are now checking CCTV in the area in the hope of tracking down and arresting the man for the theft.
