The Phuket Fishing Vessel Notification Center first received a report of the two vessels at about 1:40pm on Wednesday (Aug 23), reported the THAI-MECC 3 (Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center Region 3) unit stationed at the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command base at Cape Panwa.
The two fishing boats were reported seen just over 100km southwest of the southern tip of Phuket.
A Navy helicopter was dispatched to confirm the sighting, with Navy boats Tor 111 and Tor 272 sent to patrol the area.
After the Navy helicopter confirmed the location of the two fishing boats at about 2pm on Thursday, Navy boats Tor 111 and Tor 272 moved to intercept.
The two Indonesian fishing vessels were finally seized at about 6am yesterday (Aug 25), THAI-MECC 3 reported.
The two boats and their 29 crewmen were brought back to the main pier in Ratsada.
The 29 crewmen were first questioned, then taken to Chalong Police Station to face charges, THAI-MECC 3 confirmed.
