Indians caught working illegally in Phuket

PHUKET: Phuket Immigration officers, in coordination with Region 8 Police, have arrested five Indian nationals and one Thai woman for offences related to illegal employment in the province.

The arrests were led by Pol Col Kriangkrai Ariyaying, Superintendent of Phuket Immigration, alongside Pol Lt Col Wisarut Lad-ong, Deputy Superintendent, and Pol Lt Col Rangsinan Chanphet, as part of an operation targeting foreign nationals working without proper documentation.

The five Indian nationals arrested were identified only as:Mr Ghanshyam, Mr Rupesh, Mr. Rampravesh, Mr Sachin and Mr Harjinder.

The Thai national arrested was identified only as Ms Oruma.

The location, time and date of their arrest was not reported.

The five Indian nationals were charged with working without valid work permits while holding tourist visas. 

Ms Oruma was charged with hiring foreign nationals without work permits.

According to Immigration officers, the group admitted to repeatedly undertaking construction jobs at various sites across Phuket despite not holding the appropriate visas or legal work status.

Officers formally informed them of the charges and their rights before recording the arrest and transferring the case to Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings, Phuket Immigration reported.

Phuket Immigration stated that it remains committed to tackling illegal employment and ensuring the safety and confidence of both residents and tourists. The office urged the public to report any suspicious activity involving foreign nationals working unlawfully.
