Both teams have six points each with Thailand claiming wins over Timor Leste and Malaysia, and Singapore taming Cambodia and Timor Leste.

The team winning today’s game will guarantee themselves a place in the semi-finals of the tournament, reports the Bangkok Post.

Thailand coach Masatada Ishii told a pre-match press conference in Singapore yesterday that his team’s preparations have been affected by the injuries suffered by some key members.

“We have won the first two matches which I think is a good start to this tournament and the most important thing is that we’ve yet to concede a goal,” said the Japanese tactician.

“However, we will have to take stock of the situation in the team ahead of the game with Singapore.

“We have some important members of the team on the injury list, but I believe we have prepared well for this game and are ready to take on Singapore.

“It’s an important game for both teams. If we can get three points from this game, we will be guaranteed a place in the semi-finals.

“Last time, we qualified as the winners of our group and won the championship. I believe that every player is ready to help and to do his best to get three points from this game.

“Ekanit Panya and Supachok Sarachart missed the first two games. Ekanit still has an ankle injury, while Supachok is doing separate training to regain fitness. Both players are likely to come back for the semi-finals.

“Benjamin Davis was injured during the first match against Timor Leste and he is still recovering from it.

“I don’t want to risk Ekanit and Supachok as they are still not ready to play.”

Patrik Gustavsson said: “We have done well in the first two games and I think we can continue to improve our game.

“Singapore have started off the tournament very well too and have got six full points from the first two matches. It shows that they have a good standard but we want to win this game.”

The match will be played at Singapore National Stadium, kicking off at 7:30pm (Thai time) and broadcast live on Thai Rath TV (32), AIS Play, True Sport2 (667), and BG Sport Channel on YouTube.
