Phuket Immigration reported in a post online yesterday (Dec 7) that they had received a tip-off via online media “concerning the wrongdoing of foreigners”.
Following the tip-off, Phuket Immigration officers, together with Phuket Provincial Employment Officers, went to the 4U Barber Shop on Soi Saensabai in Patong on Wednesday (Dec 6).
The officers found that two barbers working at the shop were Thai nationals. There were no foreigners found working illegally at the shop.
Speaking with the shop owner, the officers learned that the posters at the front of the shop showing a foreigner cutting hair were old.
That foreigner “was arrested and prosecuted long ago“, Phuket Immigration said in their report.
The owner also explained that the posters at the front of the shop were different from the promotion photos used online.
There were only two barbers at the shop, and both were Thai, the owner said.
Officials gave “advice” about foreigners working. and asked for further compliance with relevant laws, said the Phuket Immigration report, which was marked with the hashtags: #For a better Phuket #Let’s help each other
