Hotelier Lark goes back to running Phuket's Trisara

PHUKET: Veteran hotelier Anthony Lark has taken a step he describes as “back to the future”, returning to run Phuket’s very-high-end Trisara Resort, which he joined as part of the development and design team in 2000, then ran as GM from the opening in 2004 until just under two years ago.

In 2013, he was moved by the owners, Montara Hospitality, into a corporate role as vice president of operations and development.

Clearly happy to be back in hotel management, he told The Phuket News, “We’ve already achieved our goals in business development. It was crucial to look after the flagship.

“We understand that change is inevitable so, during the ongoing commitment to renovation, we will also embrace the changing guest demographic and technological advancements to ensure that we are always able to exceed the expectations of our guests,” he was quoted as saying in a press release from the company.

Sydney-born Mr Lark has a 25-year history in high-end hotels, including the Regent Sydney, Amanpuri in Phuket and several other Aman resort properties.

His latest appointment coincides with the beginning of a three-year renovation of the resort. Mr Lark will continue to provide hospitality advisory services to clients of the Group, and will develop the next generation of young hoteliers to steer the group’s careful expansion.

“Anthony was the first General Manager of Trisara and he helped us build the foundation, which made us successful. We are pleased to have him back on board to ensure that the resort continues to evolve to serve the changing needs of our clients,” said Montara’s President, Bill Black.

“The past two years were record breaking years for Trisara. Thanks to a new organization structure with centralised sales and marketing, we were able to achieve the best business results since opening 10 years ago,” Mr Black said.

“With greater focus on service and guest experience, Trisara has secured the top position on TripAdvisor, which we consider a great achievement,” he added.
