The race will take place between Feb 27-Mar 1 at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram. A pre-season test will also be held at the circuit between Feb 21-22, reports the Bangkok Post.

The trophy for the ThaiGP was also unveiled at a press conference yesterday (Jan 8).

“Thailand will host the opening race of the 2026 MotoGP season for a second consecutive year and this is the seventh time the country is hosting a MotoGP event. This reflects our potential and strength in international sport management,” said Dr Gongsak Yodmani, governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), during yesterday’s press conference.

“The ThaiGP is not just a race but it is a tool to push for economic growth through sport tourism. The race will attract motorsport fans from around the world to Buriram and Thailand and it could potentially generate an income to boost Thai economy for more than 25 billion baht,” said Dr Gongsak.

Tanaisiri Chanwitthayarom, managing director of the Chang International Circuit, said: “This year the circuit will work together with the government and private sectors to upgrade the experience. We will expand the fan zone and also add more activities for the fans.”

The Thai Grand Prix has been an important presence on the MotoGP calendar since its debut in 2018. A new agreement covers 2027 to 2031 was reached in November last year, guaranteeing Thai fans at least another five Grands Prix in Buriram.
