The body was discovered at about 7:03am in front of Wat Suwankiriwong School (Wat Patong School) on Phra Baramee Rd, according to a report filed by Patong Police.

Investigating officer Pol Lt Wisanu Choomi of Patong Police said the man carried no identification documents and was believed to be about 50 years old.

“We have tried to identify who he is. We first asked people around the area and the only information we have is that he had been staying around Wat Suwankiriwong and sleeping there,” Pol Lt Wisanu said.

Initial examination at the scene found no signs of assault or struggle. “Checking his body at the scene found no stab wounds, bruises or any injuries,” Pol Lt Wisanu noted.

The body was taken for medical examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Asked why police had still been unable to identify the man, Pol Lt Wisanu declined to elaborate, saying only: “We only found the body this morning and still cannot tell who he is, where he came from, or what caused the death.”

Patong Police coordinated with Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation personnel to remove the body and proceed with the investigation.
