The royal arrival comes ahead of Queen Suthida taking part in racing in the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta and handing out the awards for the international sailing event on Saturday (Dec 9).
Their Royal Majesties landed at Phuket International Airport this morning to receive a respectful but low key reception, as their arrival today is not a not an official, formal visit.
The formalities will proceed on Saturday, when the public will have the opportunity to see Their Majesties at three locales on the island. (See story here.)
Queen Suthida today ventured out for a practice session on the racing yacht ‘THA 72’, which is competing in the IRC Zero class of this year’s Phuket King’s Cup Regatta.
Her Majesty even tried her hand at the helm of the 52-foot racing yacht, which she will crew on during racing this Saturday.
Today is a rest day for the race crews. Racing resumes tomorrow.
