Just after 9.30pm Thalang police were alerted to the accident, which happened on Thepkrasattri Rd, near Tha Reua temple, in front of the Yi Teng mansion. Arriving at the scene, the investigating officer met rescue workers who found the lifeless remains of an Asian man, in a pool of blood and the contents of his skull splattered across the road.

The man was lying face down, dressed in checkered pattern shirt and shorts and there was no helmet in sight. Near the body was a black Mitsubish Strada pickup truck with Phuket plates parked in the middle of the road. The front left tyre was flat, bumper damaged and its driver was also present. Identified as Mr Nanthawat Suwannasang, 34, of Nakhon Si Thammarat's Pak Panung district, the man gave statement that the victim had attempted to cut him off at high speed forcing the collision which caused the helmetless motorbike driver to come flying off and landing headfirst into the ground.

About 15 metres from the truck was a blue Suzuki Best motorbike on its side and its front end completely in ruin. Both vehicles were impounded for further investigation and the body was transported to Thalang hospital as police attempt to track down the motorbike owner in order to identify the deceased.
