Officers from Thalang Police Station were informed of heavy flooding on the road in front of Thalang Technical College, from Thepkrasattri Rd to Phuket Airport, at 4:30am
Floodwaters covered the road surface, making travel hazardous.
A woman driving to work at the airport who became trapped in her car due to the rising waters. Her vehicle was stuck in the middle of the flooded road. Emergency responders from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation soon arrived and helped the woman and her car to safety.
Officers temporarily closed the affected section of road to prevent accidents, with traffic to the airport directed to use lanes on the opposite side of the road as a temporary measure.
The flooding later subsided, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
Other areas across Phuket also suffered minor flooding, also causing traffic delays this morning (June 18).
