Offices will be closed next Monday (Apr 6) in observance of Chakri Day and its substitution holiday, and will reopen on Tuesday, Apr 7.
Chakri Day commemorates the founding of the Chakri Dynasty in 1782 by King Rama I, and honours the contributions of Thailand’s royal lineage.
For the Songkran holidays, government offices will be closed from Monday, Apr 13, through to Wednesday, Apr 15, with offices reopening on Thursday, Apr 16.
Songkran, Thailand’s traditional New Year celebration, is one of the country’s most important cultural festivals, marked by the now world-renowned water-splashing festivities, temple visits and family reunions.
As with previous public holidays, all government offices will remain closed on weekends and will reopen on the next working day.
Essential services, including hospitals, emergency response units, Royal Thai Police and Tourist Police, will continue to operate as normal throughout the holiday periods.
Most bank branches located in shopping malls are expected to remain open, while standalone branches may close in line with the public holidays.
