The gambling den, at an unregistered address in Soi Rong Lek, off Anuphas Phuket Karn Rd, was raided at about 9:30pm, Phuket City Police reported.
The report noted that the raid was conducted “in accordance with policies and orders” from Region 8 Police Commander Pol Lt Gen Suraphong Thanomchit and Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Sermphan Sirikong, as well as Phuket City Police Chief Pol Col Prathueng Pholmana and Phuket City Police Deputy Chiefs Pol Lt Col Chatchai Choonoo and Pol Lt Col Somporn Rangsimanrat.
The names of the officers actually conducting the raid were not mentioned.
In addition to arresting the 20 gamblers, officers seized as evidence B240 in cash, four decks of playing cards already in use, one box containing six decks of cards yet to be opened, two round tables, 24 plastic chairs and a sheet detailing the rules for gambling at the venue.
All 20 gamblers were taken to Phuket City Police Station to be charged with participating in illegal gambling and Illegally gambling on property without permission, the report confirmed.
The name of the organiser or the person responsible for providing access to the venue were not mentioned.
