Officers from CIB Division 5 had arrived in Phuket to arrest the man, the CIB reported in an official Facebook post yesterday (Sept 6).
The police named the man only as “Somkiat”. He also went by the name “Satit”.
The date, time and place of arrest was not reported.
Somkiat was wanted for the rape of a child under 13 years of age, trespass and drug use of Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine), the CIB report noted.
In early March 2018, Somkiat was ;living in Khuan Khanun District, Phatthalung. At that time he was 24 years old, and had befriended a 12-year-old girl.
He had broken into the girl’s home and raped her while her parents were outside working, the CIB explained.
Somkiat had been caught, but he was granted bail before trial and had fled Phatthalung. He arrived in Phuket, where he spent the past five years, the CIB report said.
He has now been returned to face Phatthalung Provincial Court and will “continue serving his prison sentence”, the CIB report concluded.
