The incident occurred at approximately 4:30am yesterday morning in front of Ban Phak Chi health station in Pa Khok, Pol Lt Col Niwat Thimket, investigation chief at Thalang police confirmed.

On receiving notification of the crash, Pol Lt Col Niwat and colleagues advanced to the scene where they discovered a badly damaged black Yamaha TMAX motorbike lying in the road.

The body of one of the Frenchmen involved in the crash who had sustained serious wounds and whose left leg had been badly severed was found in the road near the Mounment. The 39-year-old man’s passport was found at the scene and police confirmed he was wearing a crash helmet.

Nearby police discovered the body of another Frenchman, who was lying in the road near the entrance to the Monument. The 41-year-old was also declared dead at the scene.*

Initial investigations reveal the younger man was driving the bike with his compatriot riding pillion. Police surmised that the duo approached the curve leading up to the Heroines’ Monument at high speed before the driver lost control and collided with the road divider which threw them both from the vehicle.

Officers did state that they plan to review any CCTV footage from near the scene to understand exactly what happened.

Police also confirmed that initial inquiries revelaed that both the men were employed at an office near Thepkrasattri Rd and were heading home when the incident occurred.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Vachira Hospital where an official autopsy will be performed before they are released to family members.
