The incident occurred around 10:15pm on on June 19, Phuket City Police reported yesterday (June 22).
The four men attacked Suriya Namsak, 41, in front of a local noodle shop. The suspects claimed Mr Suriya had struck them with his motorcycle and fled the scene, police said.
Following the assault, Phuket City Police investigators were able to identify the suspects and obtain arrest warrants from the Phuket Provincial Court.
At 7am yesterday, police carried out the arrests and searched the suspects’ residences in Kathu District.
During the search, officers seized two homemade Thai firearms, a modified blank gun, 50 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles allegedly used in the incident and clothing believed to have been worn during the attack.
According to police, one of the suspects claimed the motive stemmed from a personal dispute involving his mother-in-law, who reportedly had a prior conflict with the victim. He admitted to gathering his friends to confront Mr Suriya.
The firearms and other evidence have been confiscated, and all suspects are now in custody as legal proceedings continue, police said.
