The pickup truck, a white Bangkok-registered Toyota Hilux Vigo, flipped onto its roof and came to a stop in the middle of the road, near the main SuperCheap on Thepkrasattri Rd in Rassada.
The parked car, white Bangkok-registered Nissan Trina, had its entire rear section crushed to nothing and the front end was ploughed into a roadside power pole, together demolishing the vehicle entirely.
Another vehicle, a gold-coloured Phuket-registered Isuzu pickup, was also damaged in the wipeout.
Capt Ronnaphum Permpoon of the Phuket City and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Foundation were called to the scene at 3:30am by the owner of the Nissan Trina, 38-year-old Suthin Pinthong.
According to the initial police report, the driver of white pickup, 51-year-old Kittikorn Sawangchit, said he had picked up three friends from the area near Phuket International Airport and were travelling southbound toward Phuket Town when the accident happened.
Exactly how or why the accident happened was not immediately explained.
However, Mr Kittikorn noted that “good people” had come out to help all four to safely get out of the overturned pickup.
Police at the scene said they had yet to conclude their investigation before pressing any charges.
