The incident occurred at about 2:30am on Thaina Rd, opposite the home of a local village headman and near the Beyond Surf Kata Phuket.
According to the victim, 19-year-old Kasidit Nommuang, the guitar had been placed on the seat of his motorcycle, which was parked in the area at the time.
Footage from nearby CCTV cameras shows two foreign men arriving at the scene on a motorcycle. One of the men is seen moving his own bike, while the other walks over to Mr Kasidit’s motorcycle and picks up the guitar. The pair then leave the scene together on a white Honda Click.
Mr Kasidit subsequently filed a complaint with investigators at Karon Police Station. The report was received by Pol Lt Col Narutphon Kaewlae, who confirmed the details of the theft and that efforts are underway to identify and track down the suspects.
Police have not yet released descriptions of the two men, but the CCTV footage is expected to assist in the investigation.
Mr Kasidit has also taken to social media to seek assistance from the public in identifying the individuals involved. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
