The call from Luang Pho Kleung Rd was received at around 12.25pm on Tuesday (Nov 2), Chalong Municipality reported. A concerned local resident informed relevant officials that smoke could be seen coming from a house in a small alley.
Municipal firefighters promptly rushed to the scene in one of their small vehicles. Upon arrival, rescue workers discovered a house with smoke visibly filling the rooms, although none of the occupants were present.
As the emergency was confirmed, firefighters entered the building and began searching for the source of the smoke. Eventually, rescue workers determined that the smoke had originated from a cooking pot left unattended on a gas stove with food.
Rescue workers turned off the stove and opened the door to allow the smoke to dissipate. Chalong Municipality has not disclosed whether the firefighters had an opportunity to meet the homeowner and discuss the dangers of leaving food unattended on the stove for extended periods with that person.
Chalong Municipality reminded the public that municipal DDPM officials are always ready to respond to any emergency and can be contacted by calling 076-383595 at any time, 24/7.
