Homes at the Rawai sea gypsy village, among other areas of Rawai, suffered flooding of up to 40cm deep. In response, Rawai Municipality dispatched teams of workers with pumps to clear the floodwaters.
In Patong, the streets along the foot of the hills at the southern end of the resort town, where Nanai Rd meets Sirirat Rd, were flooded with fast-moving waters of up to 50cm deep.
The floodwaters receded within a couple of hours, but officials from the Patong branch of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM Patong) warned residents and motorists to beware further flooding.
Over the hills to the east of Patong, areas of central Kathu also flooded up to 50cm deep, with the area near the entrance to Soi Saithong the worst affected.
