Five arrested in Patong drug busts

PHUKET: Patong Police have announced the arrests of five people for drugs in four separate raids throughout the tourism town yesterday (Apr 14).

The raids, led by Pol Lt Col Suchat Chumphusaeng of the Patong Police, netted a total of 77 methamphetamine pills (ya bah).

According to the report, one suspect named only as ‘Mr Samit’ was arrested at an apartment on Liap Khlong Bang Wat Road after he was found with 38 ya bah pills. Police also seized his mobile phone.

‘Mr Pikanet’ and ‘Mr Charan’ were arrested next to the Ratchapatanusorn Monument on Phisit Korani Rd, built to commemorate King Bhumibol’s visit to Patong in 1959. The men were found with 39 ya bah pills. Police seized the men’s mobile phones.

Patong Police also announced the arrests of ‘Mr Anuchit’ and ‘Ms Sukruthai’ at a rented room on Sai Nam Yen Rd for illegal use of a Category 1 narcotic (ya bah), but the number of pills seized was not reported.

All suspects along with seized items were taken to Patong Police Station for further questioning and to be charged accordingly, police noted.
