The coordinated operation was carried out on Friday (July 17) by officers from the Mueang Phuket District Office, Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Phuket, and the Phuket Provincial Police Investigation Division.
The inspections formed part of the Ministry of Interior’s 2026 policy on public security and the province’s ‘Operation 90 Days’ anti-drug campaign.
Authorities inspected four cannabis businesses in Phuket Town, with all suspects and seized items handed over to Mueang Phuket Police for legal action.
At The Chill Spot in Talad Nuea, officers arrested a 26-year-old Thai man and seized 1,112.8 grammes of dried cannabis flower and 139 cannabis joints. He was charged with selling controlled herbal products without a licence.
A 29-year-old Myanmar national was also arrested at the same shop on allegations of working outside the scope of activities permitted under Thai law.
At Exotic Weed Store on Patiphat Rd, officers arrested a 26-year-old Thai man after seizing about 400g of dried cannabis flower, 23 cannabis joints, a digital scale and a bag containing a substance suspected to be hallucinogenic mushrooms, which has been sent for examination.
He was charged with selling or processing controlled herbal products for commercial purposes without the required licence under the Thai Traditional Medicine Protection and Promotion Act.
At Tree Hill in Talad Nuea, officers arrested a 42-year-old Thai woman after finding 1,531.57g of dried cannabis flower and 49 cannabis joints. She was charged with selling cannabis without the required licence.
The largest seizure was made at Rock Reggae Bar in Talad Yai, where a 25-year-old Thai man was arrested. Officers confiscated more than 3.1kg of dried cannabis flower, 426 cannabis joints and other processed cannabis products.
Unlike the other cases, police said the man held a cannabis business licence but was charged with failing to operate in accordance with its conditions.
Phuket authorities said the operation was part of a wider effort to tighten enforcement of cannabis regulations following changes to national policy. Officials warned that inspections of licensed cannabis businesses across the province would be intensified to ensure compliance with licence conditions and relevant laws.
