Chalong Municipality received the report at around 9am from Chalong Police Station, prompting an immediate response from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division.

Local council members and heads of government departments arrived at the scene alongside firefighting teams to address the emergency.

The camp, a large one-story structure made of wood and tin, was highly flammable, and the fire spread rapidly due to its proximity to nearby homes and rental rooms.

Chalong Municipality deployed three fire trucks and two patrol vehicles to contain the blaze and protect surrounding structures.

Firefighters took about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. Water was sprayed inside the camp and around the perimeter to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the camp and all property inside were completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Preliminary reports suggest it may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, but forensic officers from the Phuket Provincial Forensic Science Office will conduct a detailed inspection to determine the exact cause, officials said.
