The fire was reported at about 9:40pm at an abandoned building in Soi Suki-Nok Le, Moo 9, Chalong.
Chalong Mayor Samran Jindaphol, municipal officials, disaster prevention officers, Chalong Police and officers from the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation’s Tourist Assistance Centre (Pearl Center) all responded to the scene.
Officials found the fire had started on the second floor of the abandoned building, where a pile of rubbish was burning. Firefighters used high-pressure water hoses to extinguish the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
Municipal officials said the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. A separate statement issued by Chalong Municipality said firefighters had contained the blaze in around 20 minutes.
After the fire was extinguished, officers searched the area and found two motorcycles, one parked beneath the abandoned building and another on a nearby street.
Police seized both motorcycles and took them to Chalong Police Station while investigators work to identify their owners and determine whether they are connected to the fire.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
