At 3:30pm Cherng Talay police were called to the scene to investigate the fire in Soi Na Soy at Baan Palita. The house was undergoing construction and was around 90 per cent complete. The house belonged to Pichaporn Katruter who was in Australia with her husband at the time of the incident.
Two fire trucks took 30 minutes to put out the fire which was believed to have started with a short circuit in the electrical control room for air conditioning and hot water system.
Supat Comtor, 42, the construction foreman said, “We were picking up some things when we smelt something burning from the attic. We called the police as soon as we saw the fire.”
