Phuket City Police reported that they received the fire report at about 5:30pm and dispatched officers to the hotel, located on Phang Nga Rd.
Investigators found firefighters already at the scene and met the building’s caretaker, Thamnoon Dibookakham, 64, who confirmed that the fire broke out in Room 215 on the second floor. The room was occupied by Mr Trithep Pukmadan, 40.
According to police, the blaze started when a floor-standing fan sparked, with the fire spreading to a nearby mattress. Mr Trithep attempted to extinguish the flames using a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful.
He then contacted the Phuket City Municipality Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, which dispatched firefighters to the scene. Fire crews managed to bring the blaze under control quickly.
Police confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities, and damage was limited to the fan and mattress.
Phuket City Police said they were continuing with the relevant procedures following the incident.
