Fire at Patong restaurant causes B50,000 in damages

At 9.57am firefighters were alerted to the fire which happened at the Chaba Dang restaurant in the soi of Patong Tower. "We suspect the fire was caused by an electrical failure with the smoke vent at the top of the building. "An employee was cooking a meal but the restaurant was not yet open for business," explained Pol Col Chaiwat Uikum of Kathu Police. In addition to bystanders dumping dozens of buckets on the fire, firefighters sprayed the fire for 10 minutes before it was finally under control. The damage was estimated to be about B50,000.
