Officers detained the woman at about 4pm after identifying her as the suspect named in Phuket Criminal Court arrest warrant No. 144/2569, issued on Feb 3, Phuket Immigration explained.

Officers said the woman, not named in their report, arrived at the Phuket Immigration office to submit an application for a ’visa extension’, where her details were checked against the immigration screening system.

They confirmed her identity with the assistance of an interpreter, after which the woman admitted she was the person named in the warrant.

She is wanted on charges of theft of her employer’s property, forgery and use of forged documents.

Officers escorted the woman to the Investigation and Suppression Unit of Phuket Immigration to record the arrest and formally inform her of the charges, before transferring her to Chalong Police Station, where the charge against her was filed, for further legal proceedings.

Phuket Immigration said the arrest demonstrated the effectiveness of its screening and enforcement system in identifying foreign nationals sought by Thai authorities.

The action forms part of “a broader Immigration Bureau policy to prevent and suppress crimes committed by foreign nationals, including transnational criminal activity, illegal employment, call centre scams, and the use of nominee company structures”, Phuket Immigration said.
