Thalang Police Deputy Chief Pol Lt Col Kraisorn Boonprasop was informed of the accident around 6:40am.

At the scene police and escue workers found the body of a man on the road opposite the Shell petrol station on the southbound side of Thepkrasattri Rd. A badly damaged blue Honda Click 150i motorbike was nearby with the engine still running. The man had his identification documents on him which revealed he was a Filipino national and he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials confirmed.*

Initial investigations by police revealed aligning scuff marks on the bike and along the curb of the divider in the centre of the road, in addition to a badly damaged traffic sign warning drivers to reduce speed. Police therefore surmised the man may have been travelling at high speed before he lost control, hit the road divider and then collided with the traffic pole. The incident did not suggest any other vehicles were involved, police noted.

The man’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where it was confirmed that he had suffered a serious head wound and skull fracture but no other major wounds were found on his body.

A further, thorough post-mortem examination will also be conducted, police confirmed, before the man’s body is released to relatives who have been notified by the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.
