Attention focuses on the southern island of Phuket where a selection of promising young golfers will be aiming to earn their places in the 13th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, to be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at Laguna Lăng Cô in Danang, Vietnam, in March 2019.
The overall winner of the Faldo Series Thailand Championship - South will also receive an exemption into the forthcoming Singha Phuket Open at Laguna Golf Phuket, part of the All Thailand Golf Tour co-sanctioned with Asian Development Tour.
Following the appointment as the Brand Ambassador of Laguna Golf – part of the Banyan Tree Group – Sir Nick Faldo said, “I have enjoyed my tie-up with the Group, the support from Laguna Golf has been outstanding as they are heavily into junior golf.”
Paul Wilson, Laguna Golf’s Assistant Vice President / Group Golf Director added, “Laguna Golf shares a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. Working with a like-minded partner like Sir Nick, we are honoured to develop aspiring youths together, give back to the game and elevate golf to another level.” added
Aimed to create access to the sport for a younger audience through grass-roots initiatives at its tournaments, this event will consist of 54 holes in a stroke play format, open to junior golfers aged 12-21 holding a USGA or nationally recognised handicap. Grass-roots divisions for golfers under 12 years old are available as part of Laguna Junior Open, but they will not qualify for the Faldo Series division winners.
