The complaint was filed after a Facebook page was set up on the night of May 9 with the name “Nopparat Nonthong” but using a profile photo of Gov Norraphat.
The Facebook user who set up the account is then alleged to have requested to be friends with reporters and local administrative officers and tried to convinced them that he/she is Gov Norraphat.
The complaint was filed yesterday (May 15) by Mr Suthee Keereedet, 32, a member of Gov Norraphat’s administrative staff and was received by the deputy chief of Phuket City Police Lt Col Chana Suthimat.
Mr Suthee said, “We believe that the person who has done this looks down on and loathes Gov Norraphat.
“The Facebook user even sent messages to an official from the Srisoonthorn administrative office asking to borrow B25,000 and sent bank account and telephone numbers.
“However, the official did not make any payment and raised his concerns about the page with Gov Norraphat as he believed it was not him requesting the money.
“The person acting as Gov Norraphat has since sent messages to others government officials asking to for borrow money and this is why I have been sent to file a report to police,” he said.
“This person must be found and legal action taken against them,” Mr Suthee added.
