There are a few dishes that are highly recommended. Firstly, “Tum Pa” (Pa means jungle or forest), which is papaya salad with rice noodles. It is a mix of many yummy things, such as pickles, lettuce, tomato, morning glory and ark clam. Fresh spiny rock crab is a special dish. The taste of the rock crab is delicious and goes well with salad. The pickled fish gravy is boiled before being added to each dish.
A typical Issan soup is made from mixed vegetables and pickled fish gravy with either pork or chicken and is known as “Gaeng Om”. The smell of the dill herb is so pungent and really makes the dish special.
If none of those tickle your fancy, there are lots of other Issan options including spicy green papaya salad. The spicy, sour and sweet flavours are so unique and the dish is always served with grilled or fired chicken, grilled beef or spicy minced beef salad and sticky rice.
There are lots of healthy dishes if one should desire. The dishes are formed of lots of vegetables with herbs. The “Nam Neung”, or Vietnamese spring rolls, which cost B199 (small size for 2-3 persons) or B299 (big size for 3-4 persons).
The Vietnamese sausage is also worth a try which goes well with a beer on the side. Very few restaurants in Phuket serve the “Nam Neung”, so it's a great place to try Vietnamese food.
The ordinary menu prices start from B50. Diners can make use of the promotion that includes papaya salad with assorted sides, which comes with a free bottle of coke, which is valid until December 31 – a great excuse for family or friends to sit back and enjoy.
