Sunday 31 May 2015 08:00 AM

Live 89.5 continues to grow and now includes one of the most exciting radio shows on the island: The Phuket News Hour.

Presented by one of the most talented and experienced broadcasters, Tim Shaw, the radio programme runs weekdays from 11am – midday, repeated at 6am the following day and highlights via podcast.

Tim has over 20 years of experience and his charismatic and warm personality are what makes him and his new show a hit.

Having only just started up a couple weeks ago, Tim describes the show as a chance for radio listeners to catch up on “things that may affect you”.

“It provides our expat and local Thai listeners, with local, national, and world news.
Podcasts are also available on the website as well,” Tim explains.

“It gives you a snapshot of what you need to know and tires to bitesize information so the listener can understand and find out more.”

“Using the resources from The Phuket News Centre, we can bring world news to the people of Phuket.”

It acts as a complimentary service to the BBC news hour and the content already broadcast on the radio.

Tim, originally from Australia, is the Thailand Correspondent for the Seven Network Australia. He produces and files news & current affairs content for Australian TV and Radio Networks.

He also has extensive career experience in direct and channel sales, marketing and media.

His training skills and the development of training programmes are now recognised and highly sought after in Australia and throughout Southeast Asia.

Tim’s ability to draw the audience in and communicate important news in an efficient manner is a testament to the key skills he has gained over the years. His exceptional past experience can be demonstrated through the various high-profile interviews that he has carried out, including Julie Bishop, foreign ministry of Australia, former High Court Judge Michael Kirby on Tim’s Legal Matters programme on 2UE Radio, as well as a captivating interview with Julian Assange in 2012, also on his programme.

He has previously spoken with the Australian ambassador, broken numerous pieces of news live on the radio, and aims to provide law into a context that people can actually understand.

In addition to the impressive experience that he has lined up, Tim’s power to sell and experience at leading national sales teams in Australia ultimately led him to become the focus of a book named “Best Seller”. Released in 1995, the book is all about Tim’s secrets to becoming the best, with advice, and entertaining anecdotes.

Tune in with Tim Shaw on Live 89.5 weekdays from 11am and get involved in the island’s most thrilling radio programme.

In addition to the above, you can also tune into Phuket Xtra, a programme of the top six stories each morning, plus local weather/tides/sunset/waves for the day.

The show will be presented in the same relaxed, conversational style as the radio news, so it will indeed be very familiar for existing listeners.
