Investigators from Wichit Police arrested the suspect, identified only as 29-year-old ‘Mr Thanakorn’, from Narathiwat, on charges of theft yesterday (Mar 9).

According to Wichit Police, the investigation began after a complaint was filed on Feb 25 when the victim reported that their motorcycle had been stolen from a construction site behind Makro in Wichit.

Police said the owner had parked the motorcycle with the key still in the ignition before leaving it unattended. When the victim returned, the vehicle had disappeared and the theft was reported to Wichit Police Station.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the area and were able to identify the suspect as Thanakorn, who was later tracked down and arrested.

Police said the suspect had recently been released from prison in Phuket before committing the theft.

During questioning, investigators found that the stolen motorcycle had already been sold. Officers expanded the investigation and located the person who bought the vehicle and recovered the motorbike.
