The announcement came at an event held yesterday (Aug 21), branded by some reports as the unveiling of an English-language version of the app, which was launched late last year as a way for people to report issues and incidents to local authorities.
Governor Narong said that the aim of having English language for people to file complaints was to “enhance the region’s status as a top-tier tourist destination while promoting road safety education”.
The announcement also highlighted the integration of Traffy Fondue into educational institutions for sustainable road safety efforts. Exactly how was not explained.
However, The Phuket News confirmed today that the Traffy Fondue app, developed by NECTEC (available on Google Play and the App Store) remains in Thai language only.
A Traffy Fondue Help Line officer today clarified that, presently, the Traffy Fondue app is available only in Thai. The English version is in development, the help line officer said.
While the app itself remains in Thai language only, and the main Traffy Fondue website (click here) remains in Thai language only, The Phuket News has confirmed a single webpage on the website that features a complaint form in English. The form can be found here.
The webpage has a language button in the top-right corner. If the button is still showing “TH” with an image of the Thai flag, just click the button to change it to “ENG” for English language with an image of the Union Jack.
Since its launch on December 19, 2022, the Traffy Fondue platform has received a total of 3,122 complaints nationwide. of those, 1,887 complaints were “resolved”, which officials noted was a 60.44% “success rate”.
Phuket ranks third in the country for filing complaints through the app, following Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima province.
So far 94% of reports submitted through the app (a totalling 795 reports), were related to traffic. A further 331 reports related to public “cleanliness” issues,, 279 reports related to road issues and a further 257 reports related to “miscellaneous matters”.
“The initiative focuses on optimizing road safety, complaint management, and public service efficiency, reinforcing Phuket’s position as a thriving tourist destination,” Phuket officials said yesterday.
