Electricity outage to hit Patong

PHUKET: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has announced that the electricity supply will be temporarily shut off in parts of Patong on Thursday (Oct 10) as work is carried out on installing new high-voltage cables.

The areas to be affected by the power outage, from 9am to 5pm, are along Ratchapathanuson Rd, including the police accommodation building behind Patong Police Station, Safe House Hostel Patong, the Patong Fire Department, the Patong Municipality office, Patong Mansion Hotel and Lamai Apartment.

In its announcement, the PEA apologised for any inconvenience caused while the work is carried out.

I'm no expert, but if they're installing new high voltage lines why don't they just do that BEFORE they disconnect the old ones and minimize the disruption?  It's not like the power poles could be any MORE ugly. No, instead they have to take all day messing around and just 'apologize for the inconvenience'
