Police were alerted to the blaze at 2pm at a building housing Muang Thai Capital Loan Company on Thepkrasattri Rd in Talat Yai.
Pol Lt Col Veerayuth Thanyasirisukworakul, an investigating officer at Phuket City Police, arrived at the scene with Pol Col Chatree Chukaew, Superintendent of Phuket City Police Station, along with traffic and patrol officers.
Firefighters from Phuket City Municipality and Ratsada Municipality were deployed to contain the blaze, which was reported to be rapidly spreading through the ground floor of the building. Crews took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
A motorcycle parked beside the building and one car were damaged in the fire.
Initial reports from witnesses indicated that a loud noise was heard from an electric motorcycle shortly before the fire broke out. Investigators believe the blaze may have started at a vehicle parked next to the building before spreading inside.
One man, identified as Sakol Wittayapichet, 57, sustained burn injuries and was transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment.
Separately, Mueang Phuket District Chief Siwat Rawangkul said he had been notified of the incident at 1:30pm and immediately assigned Deputy District Chief Thiti Bunyasathien to oversee the response on site and coordinate with relevant agencies.
Officials confirmed that emergency crews worked to contain the flames and prevent further damage, while urging the public to avoid the area to allow firefighters and rescue workers to operate safely.
Forensic officers from Phuket Province are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
