Patong Police reported that the incident occurred at about 3am. The victim, identified as Panusaya Wichitkhajee, 32, sustained a head injury after an argument escalated into violence.
According to police, the suspect, Piyanut Thaochari, 33, was “selling goods” in front of a cannabis shop in the area when a dispute arose between the two women over “selling space”. During the argument, Ms Piyanut allegedly struck Ms Panusaya once on the head with a bottle, causing injury.
Bangla patrol officers responded to the incident at about 3:40am. Police have reviewed CCTV footage from the area and sent the victim to Patong Hospital for a medical examination.
Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and related parties as part of further legal proceedings, Patong Police said.
Earlier, a 22-year-old motorbike rider filed a police complaint after he was allegedly assaulted by a taxi driver.
Patong Police reported that the complaint was lodged at about 12:45am by Adul Nikueji, who told investigators he had just dropped off a passenger at Paradise Park on Rath-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd when the incident occurred.
According to Mr Adul, as he was stopped and putting on his gloves, an unidentified Thai man driving a taxi approached him and questioned why he was in the area, claiming it was a motorcycle taxi stand.
Mr Adul said he explained that he was only stopping briefly to put on his gloves, but the situation then escalated, with the taxi driver allegedly kicking and punching Mr Adul several times, causing injuries.
Police initially sent Mr Adul to Patong Hospital for a medical examination. Investigators have been assigned to review CCTV footage from the area and to interview witnesses or related parties as part of further legal proceedings, Patong Police said.
