“If I play and can score, I won’t celebrate out of respect for the fans... I really am thankful to Phuket FC,” he told The Phuket News this afternoon from Bangkok.

His current team, Thai Premier League-side Police United, were due to arrive in Phuket this morning ahead of their Toyota League Cup Round 2 match-up against Phuket tomorrow evening (April 29).

However, the plane was delayed for several hours due to heavy thundershowers that swept over the capital.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 6.30pm tomorrow at Surakul Stadium.

Dudu said he is really happy to return to the island.

“It’s good to know that I will meet good friends here again,” he said

“Unfortunately last season wasn’t good for me and the team... Anyway, I still am cheering for Phuket to reach their target and get promoted to the TPL.”

Dudu was Phuket’s top scorer last season with seven goals during the 2013 Yamaha League-1 season.

Police United, whose home stadium is at Thammasat University’s Rangsit campus, are currently in 15th place of the 20-team elite league of Thailand.

Police advanced from the last round of the League Cup after beating Division 2 upstarts, Loei City 2-1 in extra time, away on March 1.

Phuket also advanced from a 2-1 scoreline on the same night, downing TPL’s Si Saket at home. Video highlights here.

The winner of tomorrow's match in Phuket will advance to Round 3 (Round of 16) of the tournament, with matches to be played on June 11.
