Kathu Traffic Police stopped the driver on Soi Bang Thong in Kathu at about 12:30pm, Kathu Police reported.
The man, named by police as ‘Mr Chetha A’, 27, recorded an alcohol reading of 164mg/dL. During the inspection, officers searched his car and discovered a 9mm Glock handgun, 33 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, a holster and a gun case.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a permit, and carrying a firearm in a public place without authorisation.
The suspect has been handed over to investigators at Kathu Police Station for further legal proceedings, police confirmed.
