With very few details released about the operation, officials said the bust reflects “Phuket’s intensified anti-drug policy aimed at disrupting trafficking networks and intercepting narcotics entering the province”.

The suspects, not named in an official report marking the raid, and seized drugs were handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.

The time and precise location of the arrests were not reported. Also not reported was how the officials, not police, came to know of the couple’s drug-related crimes.

The crackdown follows a separate major operation targeting a courier-based smuggling network, in which police seized 197,800 ya bah pills hidden inside air-cooler parcel deliveries.

Also reported yesterday was that the Phuket Provincial Administration Special Operations Unit arrested another suspect in Phuket Town on Apr 3.

The man was found in possession of 12.09 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice), along with drug paraphernalia and a Honda PCX motorcycle.

He faces multiple charges, including possession and sale of a Category 1 narcotic, illegal drug use, and driving under the influence of drugs.

Officials said all evidence will undergo forensic examination as investigators work to identify those behind the wider trafficking networks. Authorities have vowed continued enforcement and expanded investigations, with further arrests expected.
