Pol Capt Surasak Sudmuang of the Karon Police Station was informed of the accident at 7:15pm.
Police along with a rescue unit from Karon Municipality and officers from the Karon Municipality branch of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM Karon) soon arrived at the scene, on Patak Soi 14.
The Hino six-wheel truck, registered in Kanchanaburi, was found in a ravine beside the narrow concrete road.
Beside the truck was the body of the driver, Akadach Phosa, 43.
His 12-year-old daughter had survived the accident with only minor injuries. She was taken to Chalong Hospital.
Police have asked doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital to perform a post-mortem examination on the body of Mr Akradet to determine the cause of death.
