The incident occurred in an alleyway near a house in Soi Mongkolsap, in Moo 1, Wichit, and appeared to involve two men that were related, police said.
Pol Lt Prachaya Siyom of the Wichit Police Station was informed on the incident around 8:30am and immediately advanced to the scene with Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Chatri Chukaew and deputy chiefs Pol Lt Col Rachan Phanwai and Pol Lt Col Atthawat Suwannarat.
At the scene, officers discovered a body lying in an alleyway covered in blood that was shortly confirmed as deceased. The man, later confirmed by police as 61-year-old Mr Watcharin (family name withheld) had been stabbed six times, including three times in the chest area, once in the stomach and once in the back.
Near the body police discovered a bloodied knife, sunglasses and a white hat.
Also at the scene was an injured male later identified as 60-year-old Mr Pin (family name withheld) who had endured a stab wound to the neck and left arm. He was taken to Vachira Hospital to receive medical care.
After inspectig the area police discovered a Phuket-registered bronze-coloured Toyota Vigo pickup truck that was parked with its engine still running, which they later learned belonged to Mr Watcharin. A short distance away was a red Honda Wave motorcycle which belonged to Mr Pin.
Police revelaed that from their preliminary investigations the two men lived next door to one another and Mr Pin was married to Mr Watcharin’s younger sister.
The two men argued regularly, the police said, including yesterday when they came head to head while on their respective vehicles when attempting to enter the alleyway.
With neither yielding to give way to the other, the two men confronted one another before the stabbing ensued. Howver, police did not confirm in their report whether both men had a knife at the time of the incident.
Investigations are ongoing, officers revealed, as evidence is collected to better understand the incident and before any further steps can be taken.
