The incident occurred just after 10:30am on Saturday (Nov 2) morning in the alleyway outside a house on Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 7, Chalong where the assailant, Ekkachai Boonluen, attacked his fromer employer, Miew Lenphet, with what police believe to have been an axe, based on CCTV footage at the scene.
As a result of the attack, 60-year-old Mr Miew was left dazed and confused while nursing two nasty gashes to the back of his head.
A neighbour, Ms Yupin Thap Kok Sung, who was walking back to her house after shopping for groceries, saw Mr Miew leaning against a local fence and clearly in need of help.
She immediately called emergency rescue workers who shortly arrived at the scene to administer first aid help to the stricken man.
Ms Yupin recorded her conversation with Mr Miew who, despite his injuries, was still conscious and coherent. She added that the assailant had fled the scene before she arrived.
Chalong police arrived shortly afterwards and questioned Mr miew about the incident who informed them that he had previously engaged Mr Ekkachai to undertake some physical labour work at the property where the attack took place.
However, Mr Ekkachai was a lazy worker so Mr Miew explained he dispensed of his services only for the former employee to return to the property on Saturday morning asking for more work.
When Mr Miew refused Mr Ekkachai’s request, the latter attempted to steal his former boss’ wallet, which is when the physical altercation took place and Mr Miew endured the injuries to the back of his head.
Police confirmed they are unsure as to what was used by Mr Ekkachai as a weapon to attack Mr Miew but that CCTV footage appears to suggest it was an axe. They added that they have been urgently searching for him since the incident occurred and for anyone with any information to come forward and contact them.
