Lt Chanat Hongsitthichaikul and Lt Jaruwat Ponrat of Chalong Police Station said they received information about a man jumping from the building at 2:20 pm on Saturday and immediately went to the inspect the scene.
Upon arrival, they found a man, who police said had a disability with his right arm, lying on the floor screaming in pain. Both of his legs were broken as a result of the jump.
Police stated that the man was unknown to people in the area and was not carrying any form of identification.
The hotel receptionist told police that she saw a man in white shirt enter the hotel and walk quickly towards the staircase. Once she realised that the man was not a guest at the hotel she attempted to stop him.
However, she was unable to and the man rushed to the fourth floor, opened a window and jumped.
Hotel staff immediately called the police and an ambulance from Vachira Hospital.
Declining to name the man, Lt Chanat told The Phuket News today (Sept 5), “He passed away at the hospital yesterday due to his injuries. His relatives came to the hospital to pick up his body. He was aged 35 and held a disabled persons card registered in Phuket.
“I think he jumped due to severe personal issues,” he said.
