Per Torben Lindgren, 57, was living with his wife Kachamon Boonraksa, 38, in a house on Soi Supkanya in Rawai.
She told police that at about 1 pm yesterday Mr Lindgren asked her to go and buy him some food. When she came back she found the door and windows locked. There was no answer from inside, and no answer when she called his mobile phone.
She managed to break in and found her husband dead in the bed with his throat cut. Close by were three fruit knives, and kitchen knife and sledge hammer.
Ms Kachamon explained that her husband had been ill for a long time and said every day that he wanted to die. She added that he had recently been for medical tests and was due to go to the hospital to learn the results.
