Officers from Phuket City Police Station carried out simultaneous searches at five locations in the Khum Nam Soi Phaniang community in Ratsada in response to ongoing complaints about drug use and trafficking in the area.
The operation was launched at 5:30am on Saturday (Mar 21) under the direction of Superintendent Pol Col Chatree Chukaew.
He was joined by Deputy Superintendent of Investigation Pol Lt Col Korapol Liengboonjinda, Chief of Investigation Pol Lt Col Kant Aksornthong, and Chief of Patrol Pol Lt Col Sarun Chaiwut.
Police said the coordinated crackdown targeted known hotspots within the community where residents had reported frequent drug activity.
Initial results saw seven people arrested for drug use. One suspect was taken into custody for possession of crystal methamphetamine, while another was arrested on charges of drug trafficking after officers seized 1,898 methamphetamine pills (ya bah).
All suspects were taken to Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Police noted that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to suppress drug-related crime in residential areas and respond to community concerns. Further investigations are continuing, and officers have indicated that additional enforcement actions may follow.
