Cyber raids in South net 14 suspects, seize B15mn in assets

The operation, conducted between June 1-21, targeted online investment scams, gambling networks, illegal lending and firearms offences across the South, with raids carried out at 18 locations, police said.

Speaking at the press briefing at the Royal Phuket City Hotel, Pol Maj Gen Tinnakorn Rangmat, Deputy Commissioner of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), said officers seized assets and evidence worth more than B15 million during the operation.

While giving general raid and arrest figures, Pol Maj Gen Tinnakorn did not specificy exactly which casses applied to Phuket.

Among the most significant cases was the dismantling of a fake online stock investment network linked to at least 117 complaints nationwide, with combined losses exceeding B173mn.

Victims were lured through Facebook advertisements falsely claiming links to the daughter of a well-known investor before being invited to LINE groups and directed to a fake trading platform, apps.cshkl.vip, designed to mimic legitimate stock trading, Pol Maj Gen Tinnakorn said.

Five locations were raided in connection with the case. Arrest warrants were issued for nine suspects, with two already arrested and one additional suspect reporting to police to acknowledge charges. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the remaining six suspects and trace financial transactions for asset seizure.

Cyber police also dismantled three major online gambling networks operating in southern provinces, arresting seven suspects and seizing cash, vehicles, gold, computers, mobile phones and betting equipment, Pol Maj Gen Tinnakorn added.

The networks, identified as PARTY168, UFAZEED and MT8WIN SITE, were found to have generated hundreds of millions of baht in transactions. Police said the three operations combined handled more than B1.2bn annually.

The PARTY168 network was linked to football betting during the 2026 World Cup in Surat Thani, while MT8WIN SITE, originally based in Bangkok, had expanded operations into Nakhon Sri Thammarat, offering football betting, baccarat, slots and other online gambling services.

Separate raids targeting illegal lending and firearms offences resulted in three arrests and the seizure of 10 firearms and 100 rounds of ammunition in Nakhon Sri Thammarat.

Pol Maj Gen Tinnakorn said cyber investigators had also identified money-laundering activities involving both foreign nationals and Thai nominees in tourism hotspots, including Phuket, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

He said illicit proceeds were allegedly being channelled into purchases of high-value land and property, adding that authorities were continuing to trace and seize assets for eventual compensation to victims.

Cyber police will continue expanding investigations, targeting financial networks and pursuing all individuals connected to online criminal operations, he said.

“Check information carefully before investing or transferring money. If in doubt, do not rush and do not transfer funds,” Pol Maj Gen Tinnakorn said.
