The landmark peninsular has for decades been one of the most popular locales on the island for soaking up Phuket’s famous sunset views.
Many of those present yesterday were families and groups, occupying areas from the upper courtyard in front of the Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse to the bottom of the tip of the cape.
The sky held a handful of clouds, creating a vista well known to Phuket locals as the sun dropped below the horizon at 6:20pm.
Natthawut Bunwong, 21, had travelled from Nakhon Sri Thammarat with four people to see the sunset at Promthep, and to wish for the bad things in his life last year to pass and for the next year to bring only good things.
Ginny Wu, 32, came from Hat Yai. She has visited Phuket many times. “At Laem Phromthep, the atmosphere is very beautiful, the food is very delicious, extremely fresh. Today, I came to see the last light of the year. I want to pray for my family to be happy and healthy, and to wish everyone happiness and prosperity throughout the year. next year,” she said.
