Led by Vice Governoer Somkiet Sangkhaosutthirak, a group of government officers and Damrongtham Centre workers visited the site – on Ao Yon in the southeastern portion of the island – where they received complaints from locals about the structures.
The issue stems from a platform that is on the beach and a second-storey building attached to it – both structures, officials claim, are part of the same property as the house right behind them. The landlord was not present at the time of the visit.
Vice Governor Somkiet said, “This is obviously illegal because the platform is permanently built on the beach which is not allowed for any permanent construction to made on the public beach. So, the owner must remove the illegal part within 30 days”.
